Alphys met Bucky during the Halloween event and immediately noticed he had a problem- his arm was missing. She offered up her experience in prostheses and robotics to build him a new one, and he obliged, leading her to learn more about his traumas than she thinks he wanted to tell her. Still, she's happy to have helped, and he seems happy to have his arm back.
Despite hearing a lot of his troubles, she still feels like she doesn't know him in the same way she knows others- through the things they love. She wants to know this, to make him feel better, and to connect to him as a person, not just as a project.
